To get involved, you will need to complete an application form, available at all Library locations. You can also print an application for Volunteers or for Interns.
Guiding Principles: The Beliefs Our Program is Based Upon
- Volunteers and interns are needed to help the Library achieve its mission by providing services the Library budget does not address.
- Volunteers and interns provide a vital link by informing the community about services the Library offers and by bringing skills, experiences and community input to the Library.
- Well planned and effectively managed, a Volunteer and Intern Services program can provide a wealth of benefits to the Library, its staff, the community, the volunteers and the interns.
- Volunteer roles and internships give community members a chance to learn more about the Library by being a part of it.
- Volunteers and interns are additional complements to the Library staff; they are neither replacements for, nor alternatives to the staff.
- Staff and volunteers must work toward implementing the Library’s mission as a team in order for Volunteer and Intern programs to be successful.
- Volunteers and interns should be part of the planning, operation, governance, and assessment of our program.
- Volunteer and intern activities must follow the Library’s policies and procedures.
- The Volunteer & Intern Services program is based on the ethical principles of honesty, respect, justice, fairness, responsibility, caring and civic involvement.
Equal Opportunity
The Library provides equal volunteering and intern opportunities regardless of age, sex, color, race, creed, national origin, religious persuasion, marital status, sexual orientation, political belief, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential work functions. All matters relating to volunteering and internships are based upon ability to perform the work, as well as dependability and reliability.
